Samsung GALAXY S2 is a 4 year old Android Smartphone from Samsung. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz Dual Core processor with an Exynose chipset. The Smartphone came to the market with Android 2.3 Ginger Bread. After a year or so, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was released. But Samsung didn't provide any update. Even after a long time of Android 4.1 launch. GALAXY S2 was given a 4.0 official update.
Recently the phone received Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update. With this update Samsung declares that this will be the final update for the Samsung GALAXY S2. So, today. I'm reviewing the Samsung GALAXY S2 which runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean
Recently the phone received Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update. With this update Samsung declares that this will be the final update for the Samsung GALAXY S2. So, today. I'm reviewing the Samsung GALAXY S2 which runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean
Software Features
A major feature with this update is the latest TouchWiz version. It's not the latest, like the one used in Samsung GALAXY S3 or GALAXY S4 or even GALAXY S5. It's the version used in smaller phones like the Samsung GALAXY S DUOS or the Samsung GALAXY GRAND Quattro.
But the look and feel of the phone is quite cool. With the introduction of Android 4.1.2, now Google's project Butter is now available in this device.
Users mentioned that, the phone was twice faster than Android 4.0 version. Also, Samsung's many motion gestures were added in this update. So, it's kind of awesome.
A little disappointing fact
This phone has a 1.2 GHz Dual Core processor powered by 1 GB RAM. Still, the phone is upgradable only till Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. There are many newer version like Android 4.2, Android 4.3 and the newest version Android 4.4 KitKat.
A great news is that Cyanogen Mod is giving offical updates for this Android device. Now, the latest CM11 Nightly is available for Samsung GALAXY S2. Go check out my tutorial on How to update your Samsung GALAXY S2 to Android 4.4 KitKat
